This bill’s purpose is to add more personnel to the US borders and ports of entry. Staff enhancements of 5,300 individuals will be hired for the Customs and Border Protection and US Ports of Entry. Equipment such as a 2-way communication device and detection equipment will be supplied to those newly hired. High volume ports in Texas will receive $100 million toward updating the infrastructure. A total of $6 billion will be appropriated for this bill. S. 2767 was referred to the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs.
