The Attorney General will create Violent and Drug Crime Zones in various States for the purpose of creating drug and violent crime intervention teams. The job of these teams will be to reduce homicides and violent crimes in the States they are in. An amount of $15 million will be appropriated for this bill for the years 2010-2013. This bill is designed to give the members of the Armed Forces and the Department of Defense who were killed or injured in the Fort Hood shooting the same benefits as those killed or injured in a terrorist attack, or while serving with the Armed Forces in a contingency operation. Medals such as the Purple Heart and the Secretary of Defense Medal for the Defense of Freedom will be given, and many other benefits such as combat related compensation will be bestowed to those deemed worthy. The Attorney General may provide any assistance to local law enforcement for a crime of violence driven by prejudice. Grants may be awarded to local law enforcement agencies to provide for expenses related to hate crimes. A grant will not exceed $100,000. For the years 2010-2011 $10 million will be given to this program. For years 2010-2012 such sums as are necessary will be given to this program for increasing personnel.
Anyone convicted of committing a hate crime will be sentenced to less than ten years or, if the offense is fatal or attempted murder, the convicted individual will serve life in prison. H.R. 1913 was referred to the Senate Committee on the Judiciary.

It will be unlawful for anyone to possess a weapon that will harm humans from nuclear radiation. A violator of this law will be fined $2 million and imprisoned for a minimum of 25 years. US representatives will petition members of the UN to create a similar law in their respective countries. S. 1464 was referred to the Senate Committee on the Judiciary.

Applying tougher prosecutions for street gangs is what this bill seeks to implement. An individual, involved with a street gang, may be sentenced to the following years for the crime:
- Assault with serious bodily harm will carry a 20 year minimum jail term.
- Kidnapping or aggravated assault will carry a 30 year minimum jail term.
- A killing of another person will result in either a life sentence or the death penalty.
This bill states, “The Attorney General is authorized to hire 94 additional Assistant United States attorneys to carry out the provisions of this section. Each attorney hired under this subsection shall be assigned to a high intensity interstate gang activity area.” The amount of $80 million over four years will be given to put forth this bill. H.R. 2857 was referred to the Committee on the Judiciary.
